HEKTAD, the Original Heart Artist, began his artistic journey in The Bronx's graffiti culture at 12, evolving into a mature artist navigating mainstream acclaim. Raised in the graffiti renaissance, his moniker, a fusion of HEK and TAD, reflects his first crew, 'They Always Destroy.' Graduating from the High School of Art and Design in 1986, HEKTAD was submersed in the competitive energy of the era.
In 2014, he brought his graffiti, hearts, and love script to the studio where he began to flourish in his style and craft into fine art, using the mantra that everything is his canvas. HEKTAD is recognized for spreading love through vibrant hearts and love messages. Employing spray paint and acrylics, HEKTAD turns New York City into his canvas, creating love letters on walls, subway cars, pianos, bears, shoes, handbags, literally anything he can get his hands on, he turns it into a work of art.
In 2018, he was chosen to be part of the murals at the World Trade Center. His mural "Amor es Amor" (Love is Love), showcases his ability to merge vibrant color with powerful messages.
HEKTAD has Collaborated with brands such as: Lululemon, Sak’s Fifth Ave Windows, Lamborghini, City Harvest, and the Silverstein Properties to name a few.
